Eli Anselmi for Bozeman City Commission

Our wonderful city is at a crossroads. As we grow, we face important decisions about how to preserve what makes our community special while preparing for the future with clear eyes and steady hands. I’m running for City Commissioner because I believe we need strong, principled leadership rooted in public safety, fiscal responsibility, and common-sense governance.

As a lifelong believer in service and accountability, I will work to ensure our neighborhoods remain safe, our budgets stay balanced, and our growth reflects the values of the people who live here, NOT the priorities of outside interests or agendas. I will bring a steady, common-sense voice to the Commission; one that listens first, leads with integrity, and always puts residents first.

My Top Priorities

Law Enforcement & Public Safety

Public safety is the foundation of a strong community. I will:

  • Support fully funding our police and emergency services to ensure they have the tools, training, and staffing they need to better serve our community.
  • Promote community policing initiatives that build trust between law enforcement and residents.
  • Back policies that reduce crime, address drug abuse, and protect our neighborhoods from
  • violence and property crime.
  • Advocate for effective emergency preparedness and disaster response.

Fiscal Responsibility

As stewards of taxpayer dollars, we must govern with discipline and transparency. I will:

  • Work to ensure a balanced city budget without unnecessary tax increases, without wasteful personnel growth or wasteful spending.
  • Prioritize core services like infrastructure, public safety, and water management over luxury projects.
  • Support responsible financial planning that prepares for future needs without burdening future generations.

Common-Sense Development and Growth

Growth should enhance our city, not overwhelm it. I will:

  • Promote development that respects individual property rights while preserving the community's character.
  • Encourage development that respects the character of our community and preserves open spaces.
  • Support policies that keep housing attainable without compromising infrastructure or livability.
  • Ensure that growth pays for itself. Strive to find alternative means to fund infrastructure needs that do not increase housing costs or place additional financial burdens on property owners.
  • Back infrastructure improvements that are strategic, not speculative.

Listening to Constituents

Good governance starts with listening. I will:

  • Maintain an open-door policy and be accessible to residents, businesses, and community groups.
  • Hold regular town halls and listening sessions to hear concerns directly from the people.
  • Ensure that public input is reflected in city planning, budgeting, and policy decisions.
  • Represent the voice of the people, not special interests or outside agendas.

About Eli Anselmi

I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Immigrated to the United States in 1983 and moved to Bozeman in 1987. The natural beauty and outdoor opportunities of the Gallatin Valley and the community in Bozeman kept me here. For nearly four decades, this community has been my home, a place where my wife and I raised our family and built lifelong friendships. I have three sons, 2 grandkids and 2 step kids. I am very proud of my growing family and the opportunities this valley offers.

Professionally, I spent 28 years in management and director-level roles in the Complex Rehab and IT industries, focusing on product development and international distribution. I’ve had the privilege of leading large national sales teams, establishing international distribution networks and managing engineering groups in product design and testing. These experiences have taught me the importance of accountability, teamwork, and practical problem-solving qualities. I will bring those experiences and the same level of commitment and success to public service.

Personally, I enjoy spending time with my family, outdoor activities, travel, reading and enjoying group rides in the valley with my friends.

I am running for City Commissioner to protect what works, fix what’s broken, and restore commonsense leadership. I believe in public safety, sound fiscal management, and responsible growth; and above all, I believe your voice matters.

Let’s work together to keep our city safe, strong, united and free.
